Sea Horse Ranch Luxury Resort, located in Cabarete on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, began in the 1990’s, shortly after the international airport in Puerto Plata opened. It was the first professionally planned gated community on the north coast of the island, and from the beginning the goal was to set the standards high for those who followed in our footsteps.
Today we cater to a family oriented and international clientele that appreciates the delicate balance of modern amenities and tropical surroundings, where you may experience the true beauty of the Dominican Republic, with all the comforts of home.
Our resort hotel and community has one hundred and ten built luxury villas, for sale and for rent, with residents from all over the world. Home owner dues are used primarily for our highly-rated but unobtrusive 24-hour security, but also cover maintenance of our common areas and lush 250 acres of grounds. Sea Horse Ranch has an oceanfront restaurant, The Beach Club, a fully-staffed Equestrian Center with jumping ring and miles of trails — with world-class instructors, and a Tennis Club, with five clay courts for day and night play.
Our offices on the premises are fully staffed so management and concierge services are always available. Our standard, and our aim, is comfort, convenience and the best of leisure tropical living in a private setting.
Sea Horse Ranch is located twenty minutes from the international airport in Puerto Plata, but also within driving distance of the islands other international airports in Santiago, Samana, Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. Helicopter landing is possible with advance arrangement.
The area surrounding Sea Horse Ranch has several modern medical facilities and hospitals, with English speaking doctors. There are also bi-lingual, highly accredited schools available for children from pre-K through high school, most notably the International School of Sosua, or ISS, which provides an American accredited curriculum.

Culture & Community
Sea Horse Ranch has been active in supporting cultural events and activities since its beginning. The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival, sponsored by FEDUJAZZ and the Ministry of Tourism has a history of over twenty years, and annually attracts thousands of national and international visitors. The festival takes place every November in the touristic beach towns of Cabarete, Sosua and Puerto Plata, and has featured top international Grammy-award winning jazz artists such as Chuck Mangione, David Sanchez, Ray Baretto, Nestor Torres, Chucho Valdes and Arturo Sandoval.
Sea Horse Ranch is a major supporter of FEDUJAZZ, the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival’s Music Education Foundation, which is dedicated to educating local youth. During the Jazz Festival, internationally acclaimed musicians host music workshops benefiting 1,000 local children.
Sea Horse Ranch is host to a summer camp every year which offers the community a safe and fun environment for children to explore, play and learn. Year-round, the Tennis Club and Equestrian Center provide tournaments and exhibitions for all to enjoy, and The Beach Club is host to many holiday events and dinners, and regularly features live performances by international musicians.
