Fortunately, at Sea Horse Ranch we are conveniently located between Cabarete and Sosua, both of which are packed with fun outdoor things to see and do for children of all ages. To make it easy, we’ve compiled some of our top things to do with kids around Cabarete for you below. In fact, many are fun for the whole family!
Surf Lessons Encuentro Beach
Along with the Caribbean sunshine, one of the consistent things you can rely on in Cabarete are the waves. Come rain or shine, Playa Encuentro has a wave almost every day of the year. With different peaks suiting beginners, pros and everyone in between, it really is the perfect place to learn and improve. There is a choice of 5 surf schools, all with experienced and knowledgeable instructors offering lessons, coaching and rentals. Whether the class is for an adult or child, you can feel at ease. The beach is just a 5-minute drive from us and is the perfect place to spend the morning or whole day.
Rugama Tours
The consistent wind, golden beaches and glistening ocean are normally the first things that spring to mind when you think of Cabarete. However, the vast tropical jungle is just as fun and full of adventures and Rugama Tours shows off just that. The tour starts just past the east end of Cabarete, in a rustic river boat that meanders down the Yasica River amongst the rich jungle. The boat tour begins at the Rugama Tours base, which has an ecological garden full of vibrant plants and fresh fruits along with a small zoo. It has an array of reptiles and animals including snakes, parrots, tortoise, peacocks, lizards and crocodiles. For the adults, they have a beer garden, soft drinks and a cafe with delicious authentic Dominican food. The boat cruise emerges at the river mouth (La Boca) and offers a stop on the sandy beach, or nearby or Wilson’s Restaurant. When the wind is up, the river mouth is a hot spot for kitesurfers so you can witness quite a show.
Horseback Riding
Vacations offer a much-needed rest from the hustle of day to day life. At Sea Horse Ranch, we have our own Equestrian Centre so your children do not have to travel far for a professional and unique horseback riding experience. The centre has an array of well-trained horses suited for all different riding levels, along with experienced instructors who offer training of the basics, to advanced dressage and jumping. Surrounding the stables and large outdoor riding areas are miles of lush greenery and bridal paths leading to secluded beaches. These make for a spectacular ride for all ages and you can decide whether you prefer it at a steady stroll, or a quickened pace.
Monkey Jungle Zip Line And Adventures
Have your kids ever fed a monkey whilst it’s sitting on their head? Well, we can guarantee that they will absolutely love it. Located just a 30 minute drive from us, Monkey Jungle offers two activities to excite all ages. The site has a 5 acre enclosure inhabited by a large group of friendly Squirrel and Capuchin Monkeys who will jump on your shoulders, head & hands, especially if you have food. They make for quite the photo opportunity, so don’t forget your camera.
The second site has a 4,500ft, 7 station zip line adventure and is the most breathtaking way, literally, to admire the vast jungle below. There is experienced staff on standby at every platform and for children under 8, you can opt in for an escort to assist and accompany them on the zip line.
Tennis Lessons
Located within Sea Horse Ranch resort is our Tennis Club, boasting five clay courts, two of which are equipped with lighting for night play, a pro shop and club house for spectators. Our professional instructors offer private lessons for adults and children of all levels and a tennis clinic 3 days a week, covering tennis fitness, serving, doubles, game tactics and more. In between classes and courses, the courts are also open to just go hit some balls, join a tournament and play games like king of the court or round robin. It’s not only a great way to keep the kids active and burn some energy, but they’ll also make new friends too.
Summer Camp & Endless island adventures
Sea Horse Ranch offers a Summer Day Camp for kids ages 6 – 12, during July and August. Ask us about our special offer on villa rentals during summer vacation.
