A 20 Year Retrospective Exhibit featuring the art and memorabilia of the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival will open at the Casa de Arte in Sosúa on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 7pm.
Adolfo Faringthon, the Jazz festival’s Artistic Director, curated the retrospective exhibit, which will include the original artwork and festival posters that he created for 16 of the 20 years of the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival, along with other festival highlights and memorabilia.
The exhibition will feature the most complete collection of the 20th edition festival iconic photography, multi-media presentations, full poster collection, original autographed pieces by artist Arturo Sandoval, Dave Valentine, and Giovanni Hidalgo, limited edition Tee-shirts and more.
The traveling exhibit debuted at Bellas Artes in Santo Domingo in September, was featured at Casa de Cultura in Puerto Plata in October, and will be on view from November 3, 2016 until January 2017 at Casa de Arte in Sosúa.
The 20th Dominican Republic Jazz Festival, presented by the Ministry of Tourism and FEDUJAZZ, and sponsored by Sea Horse Ranch, among others supporters, will take place November 8-12, 2016 with dates in Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata and Cabarete.
Following the opening of the exhibit at Casa de Arte on November 3, live jazz by local artists and FEDUJAZZ students will be performed in Sosúa at Parque Las Flores to promote and celebrate arts and culture. For more info, visit the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival website.
